My clients had recently bought a beautiful seaside house in Porthcowen, Cornwall and asked me to create a design for the existing garden that consisted of a lawn overlooking the sea. I decided to create three different areas to the garden which included a rectangular lawn surrounded by beautiful planting, a circular lawn surrounded with scented lavender and an oak pergola and deck giving gorgeous views over the hills, sand dunes and sea. Wattle fencing planted with honeysuckles was added to give privacy and beautiful scent in the evenings and a stunning Gaze Burvill oak bench created a strong focal point at the end of the rectangular garden. Seaside planting included a hedge of rosa rugosa, grasses, lavenders, hebes, agapanthus, rosemary, erigeron and scented jasmine, wisteria and clematis for the pergola.
