My clients had recently bought the Victorian cottage next door and were converting the two semi-detached cottages into a single dwelling and adding a stunning contemporary glass kitchen extension. My brief was to combine the two existing gardens into one, whilst maintaining and developing the cottage garden character, and to create a seamless inside-out terrace with planting areas which would link well with the glass kitchen extension.
I used a contemporary traditional style with this project which worked really well combining the old areas of the house with the new glass extension making a timeless, inviting new space. Natural materials, simple blocks of planting and a beautiful zinc water feature surrounded by planting gave a great focal point from the kitchen.
