My clients garden consisted of a large lawn with their beautiful barn set at one end and a newly built tennis court set at the other. My brief was to create a design for the garden which would sympathetically link these two main elements together.
I decided to create a series of garden rooms enclosed with low yew hedging and full of relaxed cottage planting. The different areas created a beautiful walk through the garden and ended with an apple tree avenue under planted with wild flowers.
The rooms included a peaceful courtyard by the barn with an oak pergola and water feature, a scented herb garden with benches set into the planting, and a circular garden surrounded with beautiful cottage planting. Arches planted with scented climbers led the way through to the apple tree avenue and on to the tennis court.
